As the world approaches the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth in 2020, two extraordinary artists pair this giant with one of contemporary music’s most influential composers—Philip Glass. Glass’s contemporary compositions are known for their repetitive and elegant melodic structures that envelop listeners in a whirlwind of sonic weather that twists, turns, surrounds, and develops. Pianist Simone Dinnerstein and cellist Matt Haimovitz collaborate on a dynamic program that includes a Beethoven Cello Sonata alongside a Glass Partita, and solo piano and cello repertoire by both composers.
