Finalists of the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition perform in concert
Free and open to the public.
Finalists of the Ronald Sachs International Music Competition perform in concert, accompanied by Elizabeth Loparits (piano).
Hosted by the Department of Music, this annual festival is directed by Danijela Žeželj-Gualdi.
The finalists – performing on instruments ranging from violin, cello, piano, clarinet to saxophone – are among the most accomplished young musicians in the Southeast, with years of performance and top-level competition behind them. This free concert is a marvelous opportunity for anyone interested in the future of classical performance, and anyone who simply loves wonderful musicianship.
Parents: this is a terrific opportunity to introduce your children to classical music or to further inspire the young musicians in your family.
And...a reception will be held in the Cultural Arts lobby following the recital!
About the competition
The Ronald Sachs
International Music Competition is designed for young artists aged 16-22. The competition consists of three categories – Strings, Piano, and
Woodwind/Brass – and is in two phases: the first round consists of video
applications; the second round is performed live. The final round is also live,
with a grand prize of $2,000. This year we have 14 finalists competing in
their categories, with the winner of each category competing for the grand
prize in the Saturday, May 18 evening recital.
Music
competitions stimulate passionate musicianship. The RSIM Competition advances the careers of our
participants and winners, as well as promoting their talents. The competition
encourages more young musicians to perform and grow, and provides them with an
opportunity to build their confidence, exhibit their talent to new audiences
and reward their hard work, and also offers a wonderful learning and performance
experience for students in our community. Our hope is that young musicians will
stay connected and share educational, practical and musical know-how, and
further boost participation and inclusion. We believe the program helps young
musicians realize their dreams and gives them a rich and memorable experience.
Our success and reputation as one of the fastest growing competitions can be
attributed to many factors, including highly qualified and acclaimed judges
with strong musical backgrounds, friendly and welcoming staff, a wonderful
recital stage and, foremost, the finest young musicians.
