also selected as an artist on the International Artist Alliance Roster. Professional
performances include appearing as piano soloist with the Charlotte Symphony,
Charlotte Repertory Orchestra, Charleston Symphony, Fayetteville and Wilmington
Symphony Orchestras. From 1989-91 she was a touring artist with the North
Carolina Touring Artist Roster. Other concerts include a successful tour in Russia
in 2001, where she performed at the Grand Palace in Peterhof, the Rimsky
Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg and the Igor Stravinsky School of Art

and the Igor Stravinsky Museum in Lomonosov.
A native of Asheville, N.C., Edwards holds the Doctorate of Music in piano performance from the University of South Carolina where she studied with Raymond Dudley and John Adams. She earned the Master of Music in piano performance at the University of Kentucky where she studied with James Bonn, and the Bachelor of Music in piano performance as a student of John P. Adams at Mars Hill University. Coaching experience with John Quincey Bass at the Cincinnati Conservatory, Madame Lili Krauss, Menahem Pressler, Seymour Fink and Ann Schein enhanced her talents as a clinician-adjudicator, of which she has been in frequent demand by the North Carolina Music Teachers’ Association, as well as teaching master classes at various universities. Edwards' formative training was with Dorothy Krauss. She holds full memberships in NCMTA and the Federation of Music Clubs. In addition she was inducted into Sigma Alpha Iota and included three times in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Her students have been prize winners in numerous piano competitions. Edwards was the Lead Instructor of the Department of Music at Southeastern Community College and continues as director of the Dr. Sharyn Edwards’ Annual Piano Festival and Competition.
