Resonance:
Listening and Learning with the UNCW Department of Music
The UNCW Department of Music introduces Resonance: an exploration of the depth and vibrancy of music, music making, and teaching; how the study and performance of music reverberates through and enriches our community.
The series features guest speakers and music department faculty, and is open to UNCW students and staff, music professionals, teachers, and anyone who loves music.
Topics for this semester include music education, composition, World Music, music history, diversity, the past and the future.
Resonance events are virtual this semester. We hope you join us as we listen, learn and share ideas.

About Jazzmoné Sutton, guest speaker

Sutton was born and raised in eastern North Carolina. Growing up,her family always had music throughout the house – singing was a daily activity. Since graduating from UNCW, she has taught elementary school music and traveled across the United States and abroad, teaching and learning about music education. Sutton is immediate past president of NCMEA and serves on NAfME’s Equity in Music Education committee, which examines music education practices and policies to increase representation of teachers and students, and to provide music education for all. Following five years on NAfME’s Advocacy Leadership Force – including annual lobbying at the United States Capitol – she now serves as adjunct for the committee.
