About the Artists 
Natalie Boeyink bassist, composer and educator, joined the UNCW faculty in 2015 and is an active clinician, panelist, and adjudicator. She has performed with Lorraine Feather, Ingrid Jensen, Terri Lyne Carrington, Jovino Santos Neto, Joe Piscopo, David ‘Fathead’ Newman, Christine Jensen, Jeff Coffin, Almir Côrtes, Keith McCutchen, John Hendricks and Michael Philip Mossman. She has been an invited guest performer in Barbados; the Bahamas; Perm and Moscow, Russia; and Natal, Brazil. Her group, Batuquê Trio, released its debut album, Transparency, in 2015, which highlights their fusion of contemporary Brazilian, American and Afro-Cuban jazz. A second album is in production with release slated for late 2022.
 
Paolo André Gualdi is an active jazz and classical pianist, and has collaborated with Italian pianist Gian Luigi Clemente, bassist Natalie Boeyink, and singer Tish Oney, among others. He has recorded for Mark Records and IFO Classics, and his performances have been broadcast by radios such as BBC, NPR, Clásica 650 and Radio Vaticana. He performs worldwide and has won numerous piano competitions, including the Ibla International Piano Competition and the 15th Bartók-Kabalevsky International Competition. He is the founder and artistic director of the South Carolina Chamber Music Festival, and is associate professor of music at Francis Marion University. Gualdi is a part-time member of the UNCW jazz faculty.
 
Jon Hill is a part-time faculty member (and alumni) at the UNCW Department of Music, where he teaches jazz drums. He is an active performer, working with numerous groups across the state.

DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC CONCERT GUIDELINES FOR UNCW STUDENTS

Arrive on time

•   Arrive at the concert venue at least 10 minutes before the posted concert time. If you need to get a ticket at the box office, have your UNCW student ID ready and arrive at least another 5 sooner.

    •   The box office will only be open for ticket sales and distribution to students up until 15 minutes after the performance begins. 

    •   Students arriving 5 minutes after the start time of the event will not be admitted free with their UNCW ID card, and must purchase tickets in order to be admitted. If the box office has closed, students will not be admitted into the venue.


Concert attendance and program stamping

Programs for students registered in Department of Music classes are stamped by the ushers at the end of the performance. 

   •   If you leave before the concert ends, your program will not be stamped.

   •   If ushers should run out of programs, ask them to stamp your ticket stub at the end of the concert. Let your teacher know what happened. 

 

Use of electronic devices during performances

   •   use of computers, tablets, phones is not allowed during performances. Anyone using an electronic device will be asked to put it away. Noncompliance may result in being asked to leave the event.
