Carol Ingbretsen, vocals
A
native of Raleigh, N.C., vocalist Carol Ingbretsen performs with several jazz
combos and big bands. She has been featured with the Tar River Swing Band of
Rocky Mount, N.C., the High Society Orchestra in Raleigh, Casablanca Orchestra,
and the John Brown Jazz Orchestra and Little Big Band. Ingbretsen has performed
at Artsplosure in Raleigh, the Reedy River Jazz Festival in Greenville, S.C., the
Music House in Greenville, N.C., Sharp Nine Gallery in Durham, N.C., and festivals
in North and South Carolina.
Ingbretsen received a Bachelor of Music from East
Carolina University. She has been a featured soloist with the North Carolina
Symphony, Carolina Ballet, the Cary Community Choir, the Sandhills Community
Chorus and the Carolina Philharmonic in Sanford, N.C. Professional chorus
appearances include Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians, the National Opera
Company and the Raleigh Oratorio Society. Ingbretsen is a longtime member of the
North Carolina Master Chorale’s professional chamber choir. In collaboration
with Rick Motylinski (lutist and principal percussionist with the North
Carolina Symphony), Ingbretsen performed a series of Renaissance music programs
featuring songs by Dowland and Byrd at venues in the Triangle, including St.
Mark’s Chapel, Duke Chapel, St. Mary’s College, the North Carolina Museum of
Art, and the Shakespeare in Music Clinic at Duke University. Recent projects
include Dealing Stan, a Steely Dan cover band; she is an active jazz performer,
often accompanied by her husband Paul on acoustic bass or guitar.

Free to students with valid UNCW ID.
Tickets are available at the UNCW box office (located in Kenan Auditorium) or by calling 910.962.3500. Box office is open Monday-Frida noon - 6 p.m.
Tickets may also be purchased online.
UNCW students can request tickets by going to the UNCW box office and presenting a valid UNCW ID.
Any remaining tickets will be sold at the Cultural Arts Building box office, starting at 6:30 on April 21.
