About the Artists
Barry David Salwen is an international concert pianist, giving performances and master classes in the United States, Europe, Israel, and Asia. He gave two weeks of master classes at the Shanghai Conservatory in China, among many other places. As the recipient of a prestigious Fulbright Scholars Grant, he gave a semester’s seminar at the Music Conservatory in Freiburg, Germany, one of the leading music institutions in the country. His annual master classes at UNCW, and more recently the annual Piano Day, have been attended by students from across eastern North Carolina. Among Salwen’s nine CDs is the first recording of the complete solo piano music of the American master Roger Sessions; he is the first artist to record all of these works.

Domonique Launey has performed throughout the United States, Europe and Jamaica as soloist, chamber musician, and collaborator. As featured soloist, she has performed with orchestras including the Wilmington Symphony, Houston Chamber, San Antonio, Oklahoma, Tulare, Shreveport, L’Orchestra de Chapelle Minimes (Brussels), Tallis Chamber, and the University of Texas, performing concerti of Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Liszt, Beethoven, Mozart and J.S. Bach. In 2014, she collaborated with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, performing Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in D Minor. She studied extensively with David Renner, Nancy Garrett and Anton Nel at the University of Texas, Austin where she received her B.M. and M.M. degrees in Piano Performance. Awards include first place in the Wideman International Piano Competition and the University of Texas Concerto competition; she also performed in the Van Cliburn Competition. As a Rotary International Scholar, she worked with Nadine Deletaille in Brussels, and was presented with the Gold Medallion for her solo performance following a year performing extensively as a soloist..
