A Family and Alumni Weekend Event

A reception with the UNCW Alumni Office will be held in the lobby of the Cultural Arts Building.

The Family and Alumni Weekend Event is presented as part of UNCW's special weekend for alumni and family.
The general public is invited to attend the concert and reception as well.
Proceeds from the concert benefit Department of Music scholarships.

Artist biography
Justin Hoke is an active soloist, chamber musician, composer, and educator based in Wilmington. He performs as a member of the Cypress Duo and the North Carolina Guitar Quartet. He has been featured as a soloist on classical and electric guitar with the Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, Panama City Orchestra, Florida State University Orchestra, and the Appalachian State University Guitar Orchestra. His debut solo album Open Sky was released in 2015. Marvin J. Ward wrote on CVNC.org, “Superbly played... very highly recommended.”
       Hoke joined the UNCW music faculty in 2013 where he teaches classical and jazz guitar, music theory and other courses in the department. He graduated summa cum laude from UNCW in 2007 with a Bachelor of Music in classical and jazz guitar performance, studying with Robert Nathanson and Bob Russell. He received his Master of Music from Appalachian State University where he studied with Douglas James, and his Doctorate of Musical Arts in classical guitar performance from Florida State University where he studied with Bruce Holzman. Hoke previously served as a guitar instructor at Florida State University, Tallahassee Community College, Appalachian State University, and Emory and Henry College.
       Awards include first prize in the 2012 Florida State University Doctoral Concerto Competition, Florida State University graduate teaching assistantship 2010-2013, top prize in the 2010 Appalachian Guitarfest International Competition, top prize in the 2010 Music Academy of North Carolina Guitar Competition, Appalachian State University teaching assistantship 2008-2010, Appalachian State University scholarship in 2008, and the William F. Adcock scholarship at UNCW 2006-2007.

Tickets are available in advance through the UNCW Box Office (located in Kenan Auditorium) and one hour prior to performance at the Cultural Arts Building Box Office.
Advance tickets may be purchased online or by calling the box office at 910-962-3500 Monday-Friday 12 - 6 p.m. 
Any remaining tickets will be available one hour prior to performance at the Cultural Arts Building Box Office.

UNCW students may obtain tickets in advance by going to the UNCW Box Office (located in Kenan Auditorium) Monday-Friday 12 - 6 p.m. If you wish to pick up tickets in advance on the day of the event, please go to the box office no later than 5 p.m.

DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC CONCERT GUIDELINES FOR UNCW STUDENTS
Arrive on time
•   Arrive at the concert venue at least 10 minutes before the posted concert time. If you need to get a ticket at the box office, have your UNCW student ID ready and arrive at least another 5 sooner.

Concert attendance and program stamping
Programs for students registered in Department of Music classes are stamped by the ushers at the end of the performance. 
   •   If you leave early, your program will not be stamped.
   •   If ushers should run out of programs, ask them to stamp your ticket stub at the end of the concert. Let your teacher know what happened.
