UNCW Classical Guitar Ensemble is directed by Robert Nathanson and is made up
of students from the Department of Music.
Selections by Jorge Morel, Ernesto Cordero, Turlough O’Carolan, Georg Philipp Telemann, Luigi Legnani, Heitor Villa-Lobos, and Andrew York.
About the Director
Robert Nathanson, professor
of music and guitar instructor, is an active recitalist, orchestral soloist and
ensemble performer, giving concerts throughout the United States, Germany,
Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, Austria, Germany, Slovenia and Canada. A
Liscio Recording artist, Nathanson has recorded two solo CDs (New York Sally
and Exposure), as well as ensemble recordings. Images contains new music for
guitar and saxophone recorded with Frank Bongiorno as the Ryoanji Duo. The duo
recently recorded David Kechley’s Sea of Stones, a concerto for saxophone and
guitar with orchestra, with the Filharmonia Sudecka in Walbrzych, Poland. The
recording is scheduled for release this year. At the Edge of the Body’s Night,
contains new music for guitar and soprano with Nancy King as Duo Sureño.
