Guest Artist Biography: Yefim Romanov, violin
Yefim Romanov, a Russian-American violinist, is a
second-year Violin Fellow at the New World Symphony. He made his solo debut at
the age of nine with Camerata of Kazakhstan, and has given solo performances
with orchestras throughout the United States.
As an orchestral
musician, Romanov has been invited to be part of the Arizona Musicfest, has
been concertmaster of the Miami Music Festival, Ocala Symphony and Gainesville
Symphony, and invited to perform with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. He is a
recipient of a career grant from the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation and a
recipient of the Henry and Lucy Moses Fellowship at Yale University. During the
summer, Romanov has been a fellow at festivals such as the Bowdoin Music
Festival, Colorado College Music Festival and Banff Music Festival. As a
chamber musician, Romanov has worked with members of the Brentano Quartet,
Pacifica Quartet and Ying Quartet. He has performed alongside artists such as
Midori, Joshua Bell, Gil Shaham and Valery Gergiev.
Romanov was born
in Almaty, Kazakhstan and holds an artist diploma from Yale University, a
master’s from Indiana University and a bachelor’s from the University of
Florida. His primary teachers include Ilya Kaler, Kevork Mardirossian and Hyo
Kang.
