About the artist
Madison Murphy is a senior at UNCW pursuing a B.A. in Vocal
Performance. A member of UNCW’s Opera Outreach Project, Madison has performed
in operatic scenes as Gretel and Sandman in Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel,
Monica in Menotti’s The Medium, and Shulamit in Meira Warshauer’s contemporary
opera, Elijah’s Violin. While in residence at UNCW, Madison has performed with
the UNCW Chamber Choir in Mozart’s Requiem, the Brahms’ Requiem, Haydn’s Mass
in Time of War, and Jeffery Van’s A Procession Winding Around Me. In 2017, she
appeared as an ensemble member in Opera Wilmington production of Bizet’s
Carmen. In 2018, Madison spent the summer singing at the Young Artist Program,
the Lake Junaluska Singers, in Haywood County, NC, where she performed musical
theater, spirituals, and sacred music as part of a 16-member ensemble. Madison
plans on pursuing a Master’s in Performance and Vocal Pedagogy, after
graduating from UNCW in May 2020.
Presented in partial fulfillment for the Bachelor of Arts in Vocal
Performance.

DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC GUIDELINES FOR UNCW STUDENTS (attendance at degree program Junior and Senior Recitals)
Arrive on time
• Arrive at the concert venue at least 10 minutes before the posted concert time.
Concert attendance and program stamping
Programs for students registered in Department of Music classes are stamped by the ushers at the end of the performance.
• If you leave before the concert ends, your program will not be stamped.
• If ushers should run out of programs, ask them to stamp any notes you made. Let your teacher know what happened.
Use of electronic devices during performances
• use of computers, tablets, phones is not allowed during performances. Anyone using an electronic device will be asked to put it away. Noncompliance may result in being asked to leave the event.
