Rhiannon Giddens is an American musician with an elegant bearing,
prodigious voice, and fierce spirit. She is known as the lead singer,
violinist, banjo player, and a founding member of the Grammy Award
winning African-American folk interpreters Carolina Chocolate Drops.
Rhiannon began singing at a very young age and didn’t think of music as a
career until she attended the elite North Carolina School of Science
and Mathematics where she realized she didn’t want to solve any more
equations. She then attended Oberlin Conservatory and studied opera. In
addition to her work with the Drops and other projects, Rhiannon has
released two solo albums: Tomorrow Is My Turn (2015) and Freedom Highway
(2017).
